Dr. Koschel helped me peal away so many layers that had accumulated over years and years of saying yes to everyone else except myself. In 8 weeks we got to the core of who I am, what really makes me tick, and I learned to appreciate everything I had in my life again. Rather than walking away from medicine I focused on the areas I truly love. With a new mindset I appreciate my work more than ever, and I am thriving rather than surviving. I highly recommend working with Dr. Koschel if you feel stuck or overwhelmed in your current situation. She really did save my life.

I have spent the better part of 20 years working out – either training for sports when I was younger, or training for life as I got older. I had been working with a personal trainer for the past 2 years and loved where I was fitness-wise. Then I found out I was pregnant. This was life changing on so many levels, but one thing that I knew from the get-go was that I wanted to remain active during my pregnancy. I didn’t want to use it as an excuse to become lazy and let myself and my physical accomplishments go. Although I loved my personal trainer, I knew that what I was wanting from an exercise program while pregnant was going to take the big guns, especially with the slew of physical ailments that would be fighting against me during this journey (former shoulder & knee surgery, ankle injuries, a PARS defect in my back, spondylolisthesis, and no disc between a couple of my vertebrae). I had been following Tessa on Instagram for a while and remembered seeing her train several pregnant women over the course of time. Even though she is in Miami and I am in San Diego, I knew she was what I needed. I started training with her around week 14 of my pregnancy, after all of the horrific 1sttrimester symptoms had passed, and I was feeling well enough to move beyond my bed to the kitchen. As soon as we got started in the program, I was so excited for where this was going. Not only did we hit cardio and lifting hard every session, but we worked on my mindset each week and practiced different mental aspects to help more than just my physical health. This wasn’t some run-of-the-mill online program where she would just send me the workouts each week and not pay any attention to what I was doing. We talked daily, and multiple times a day. I would send her videos to ensure my form was correct, and she would give me pointers along the way. I would log each of my workouts for her to view and for us to converse about after they were complete. I would complain about how much I hated cardio but still did it because she always kept it short and interesting. She helped me with my nutrition. She would check in on my mindset progress to make sure I was focusing on my mental health. She pushed my limits physically and continuously challenged me, while still keeping me safe. I watched myself actually getting stronger during pregnancy, which is something I never imagined happening. I started to enjoy cardio and looked forward to going on runs (DEFINITELY never imagined THAT happening). I always thought I would be a complete basket case while pregnant, but found I had less anxiety and stress than I did before pregnancy because of our mindset practice. On top of it all, she genuinely cared about me as a person and could completely relate to what I was going through in pregnancy. As a mother of two herself, she understood that being pregnant isn’t always fun, and she helped me through the difficult times I encountered. She didn’t give me a guilt trip if I missed a workout because I was exhausted. She was a constant source of positivity for me, while also keeping it real. She helped me look at exercise differently than I had always looked at it in the past, and this was a huge game-changer for me in the best way possible. I remained completely healthy and injury free during my entire pregnancy, and I know 100% it is because of this program and the dedication Tessa has to me as a client and a person. She isn’t your typical trainer that took a test and received a certification. She has incredible and extensive knowledge on the science behind exercise and is so unbelievably passionate about what she does, you can’t help but be motivated by her. I am so incredibly lucky to have her as a trainer, and she has legitimately changed my life. I’m so excited for where she will take me after I give birth because where she has taken me so far has completely surpassed anything I thought I was capable of. ~ San Diego, CA
